What's Up Wednesday

WHAT’S UP WEDNESDAY – APRIL

via Google

1. What We’re Eating This Month…

I've been trying to cook a little more than normal.

I've tried to make chicken & dumplings twice.. once last week and once yesterday. Last week it lacked flavor but the chicken and dumplings were cooked nicely. This week the flavor was better but the chicken and dumplings weren't cooked enough. Ha! I'm going to try again next week and maybe third time will be the charm!

2. What I’m Reminiscing About…

Traveling! Going to the beach!

3. What I’m Loving…

I'm loving all this time at home with my family, sleeping in, time to finally catch up on a million things and I'm loving the amazing weather we've been having in NC!

4. What We’ve Been Up To…

Catching up on stuff, projects, public school at home, spending lots of time outside!

Last weekend we went to Zootastic to see and feed the animals!

We finally all have bicycles (well J needs a new one) and have taken a few bike rides! L has a bicycle with training wheels but is still pretty slow and gets tired easily so I decided to get a seat to put on the back of my bike. She loves it but it makes me kind of nervous. I guess the more we use it the more I'll get used to it..

5. What I’m Dreading…

Waiting around to see what might happen with my husband's current position.

Prayers please that he is not effected and we can stay here.

I'm kind of dreading a big milestone birthday in August but at the same time

I feel blessed to have the privilege of growing older!

I'm also kind of dreading what life could be like after this whole quarantine/covid thing is over. I feel like there is an agenda behind it (for sure!) and it leaves me with a bad feeling.

6. What I’m Working On…

A cleaning schedule, trying new recipes, keeping up with laundry, cleaning and reorganizing closets. Sorting and organizing old photos. I just ordered two photo albums so I can put the prints I'm keeping into albums. I need to make several Shutterfly books too! I'm working on getting back into blogging and may even take a course soon!

I have everyone making their beds every morning for the first time ever! (The rest of the
room might be a wreck but at least the beds are getting made!)

I finally got my sewing machine out and bought some fabric.. just need to sit down and watch some YouTube sewing tutorials....

I ordered these bells a few weeks ago and need to work on bell training both our dogs.

7. What I’m Excited About…

Life going back to normal, our new house, homeschooling the kids this fall!

8. What I’m Watching / Reading…

I'm always watching true crime. I just started 'Til Death Do Us Part on Hulu. So far I've already seen most of the cases somewhere else but a couple were new to me. The old ones are still interesting because sometimes I forget details or exactly what happened.

I also watch Seinfeld or Jimmy Kimmel when I need to laugh. (My political views are 180 from Kimmel but he still cracks me up!) I wish Netflix would bring back Friends during quarantine. They're an all time favorite and always make me laugh! I know we all need more laughs during this stressful time. I want to find a new series to watch and really get into though. Any suggestions would be great!

I just finished reading Night Road (another blogger recommended it). It was my first Kindle book that I've actually read all the way through and I read it in less than 24 hours. Before I had kids I read ALL the time but don't read nearly as much anymore. Night Road is only $2.99 on Kindle which I thought was a great deal! I read the whole thing on my phone but I'm thinking I'll use my tablet to read my next Kindle book.

9. What I’m Listening To…

I recently discovered Anthem Lights which I really like. I'm sure they've probably
been around forever but they're new to me haha!

10. What I’m Wearing…

Old t-shirts, shorts or leggings around the house every single day.
If I go out I will wear leggings and a tunic top.
I am making an effort to flat iron my hair every time I wash it. I just
feel more put together with my hair straightened.. even at home.

11. What I’m Doing This Weekend…

My husband has to work from home on Saturday so it will just be like another weekday for the kids and I. Sundays we sit down and watch church at 11 and sometimes participate in a life group Zoom call at 6. We usually try to drive down to our new lot to see the progress on the weekends too.

12. What I’m Looking Forward To Next Month…

Quarantine possibly ending (although that seems doubtful here in NC.. )

School officially wrapping up for the kids. Our neighborhood pool would typically open in May but I doubt it will open that early this year. We may end up getting a little pool for the backyard just for the kids to play in while we wait around for the big pool to open..

I let all fitness and diet goals go out the window when quarantine first started back in March. I would like to get on track in May and actually make some progress! I need to cut gluten out again too. I've been eating way too much and it literally makes me feel sick, tired and achy.

13. What Else Is New…

I bought some plant and flower seeds a couple weeks ago and we all have our own little plants that we take care of. We have sunflowers, wild flowers, cabbage, mint, some kind of spicy pepper, spicy lettuce (or something leafy).. and maybe a few other things. Right now we keep them all in a little red wagon and pull them into the sun for a few hours a day and then into the shade later on and in the garage for the night. It seems to be working fine for now.

I braided L's hair this morning, for a change. It looks really cute and a lot neater than her usual. She loves it! Now I want to braid S's hair too but she won't let me touch it haha!

I saw a pic of a Hispanic guy wearing a shirt like this a few months ago. I finally got around to showing it to my husband and he thought it was hilarious so my friend made one for him and dropped it off this evening! So funny!

On that note.. I saw this on Facebook this week and

this made me laugh too! (So true though!)

  1. Love the Lysol meme!! I think that is definitely true. Ah... the beach. I can't wait to see the beach again! This is typically the time of year we'd be visiting when it's warm but not hot and the school kids would still be in school but we're pretty much wrapping up our year...

  3. What a talented photographer you are. These are beautiful pics. The dumplings look wonderful. Here's hoping number three is the charm! I found your blog through a comment you left on Hannah's Urban Naturale. I hope you are all well and happy.

I have also let fitness and food goals go out the window thus far and I am reclaiming them in May.
