Weekend Wrap-Up

Last night my sweet husband made yummy chicken wings and tater tots for dinner! I couldn't care less about football but we've kind of made a tradition of having wings and junk food on Super Bowl Sunday.

After dinner we had Rocky Road and cupcakes that J and C made.

Saturday we went to look at another house (we've decided to stay out here in NC instead of moving back to TX and we've been looking at houses the past week or two.) Afterwards we had Chinese food for lunch. The kids had fun trying to eat with chopsticks!

L was super sick with the flu all last week. By Friday evening she was feeling a lot better after a bath. I thought these pics were really cute of her and her daddy.

Three weeks ago we brought home a new little puppy for J! Roxie was only about 4 weeks old when we picked her up. She was so tiny when we got her.. less than 2.5 lbs.

Several random pics of the new puppy! My husband trying to feed her a bottle was the cutest thing ever haha! She was already eating puppy food when we got her but then she was sick for a few days and the vet suggested puppy formula. She wouldn't take the bottle but loved the formula in her bowl or in a medicine dropper. Her she is at the vet, having her first bath, being cuddled. She's all better now and just the cutest little thing! Our 2 year old Beagle is getting used to her and I think he enjoys having another puppy around.

S turned SIX in mid-January! We had a cake and she opened gifts after dinner and already had her pajamas on!

I wasn't able to eat lunch with her on her actual birthday but the L and I took Chik-Fil-A up to school and ate with her a few days later. We're so sad that our Chik-Fil-A took chicken strips (our favorite!) off the menu. They're trying out spicy chicken strips in their place but we were perfectly happy with the regular strips. I hope they'll bring them back soon!

J turned ELEVEN near the end of January! She has grown up so fast!! She looks like a teenager.

I didn't quite meet my walking goal in January. My goal was 33 miles but L was super sick the last few days of January and I was getting constant migraines so I changed my goal to 25 (and met that goal!) I have no idea if I'll get my bracelet or not.. kind of hoping I will but whatever. I feel like I cheated by changing my goal right at the end and I'm not sure if that disqualifies me or not. My goal for February is 35 miles! I'm still fighting migraines and flu like symptoms now so I'm not sure when I'll actually start walking this month but hopefully in the next day or two. L is getting better but isn't quite 100%. J and S have been sick but may be able to go to school tomorrow. Hoping we all get better soon and no one else comes down with anything. I would love ONE good snow this winter but other than that I am more than ready for Spring!!

Hello Monday

Please enter my giveaway.. there's just a few hours left! This is my first giveaway in several years. I'm a little rusty so hope I'm doing it okay but there are three, very easy mandatory entries. Please do all three to enter.

Keep in mind even if you don't have a baby or baby on the way these are great, gender neutral items that would make a perfect baby gift for someone else! Thank you so much!!

We had a crazy week last week and a crazy weekend. Every single person in this family has been sick in the past 7 days so we've been pretty much shut in for quite a while now.

Alex had the flu for days. I started getting the flu a few days ago. J and the girls all had a bit of stomach virus but bounced back pretty quickly. I spent all day yesterday in bed. It honestly wore me out just to sit up in bed, watch a show on my laptop and play a game on my phone. I'm feeling a little better today. I managed to get Alex to school on time this morning and haven't gone back to sleep since. Hopefully I'm past the worst of it. Indie is the one (of course) who had both the stomach virus and flu like symptoms. Poor child always gets the worst of it. Thankfully her stomach virus didn't last too long at all and her flu like symptoms don't seem nearly as bad as what Alex and I have had but she's very congested and gets pretty miserable even though she's been up playing, watching movies and eating pretty well. Praying that we all recover quickly! Frankly, I'm sick of feeling like crap and being stuck at home and it breaks my heart to see Indie so miserable. :(

Alex got his glasses last week. Even though he's still getting headaches he thinks the glasses are helping. I guess it may take awhile to see a big improvement. He's been drinking Gatorade every day and I've been trying to give him magnesium powder in a drink once a day. All this sickness has thrown us off but I'm thinking he needs an allergy med, magnesium, multi-vitamin and a B12 vitamin. He probably needs to get off dairy and gluten too but that's so much easier said than done. Both dairy and gluten effect me so I'm thinking he could have a sensitivity as well....

Besides being sick nothing much is going on around here. Alex and J are getting Alex's Pinewood Derby car ready for the race on Saturday! They're planning to sand and paint the car tonight. They still need to get decals and weights.

I never thought I'd say it but I'm totally obsessed with Disney at this point ha! I've joined a group for Disney tips and planning. I have a Disney list on Amazon of all the things I want to buy before our trip. We aren't going to Disney until November but I'm a planner!

Hope everyone has a great Monday and I would really appreciate it SO much if you would enter my giveaway!! Thank you!!

life lately

We've been busy as always!! Poor L was sick for over two weeks. She was sick a full week before Thanksgiving before I decided to take her to the doctor (over-the-counter cold meds just don't seem to work for her). They gave her eye drops and a prescription for all her coughing and congestion. The prescription seemed to work for a few days but then she started getting worse. I made another appointment a week after the first one and I'm glad I did. At this point she was heading towards pneumonia! Her chest sounded bad but her breathing test was good. We got a couple new prescriptions and these worked great! She's so much better now! We had a follow up appointment as well as her 3 year check-up last Friday. S woke up that morning crying that her ear hurt so the doctor looked at her as well. It turned out she had her first ear infection either.. in both ears! So we have S on a prescription now too.

The little girls wore their little backpacks, filled with a few favorite toys, everywhere for a couple days last week. They cracked me up wearing them into Neighborhood Wal-Mart haha!

I had to get Starbucks a few days last week... just one of those weeks. L has been asking for a cup of water every time we go. She calls it "frappucino water" ha!

Just a funny pic of S wearing a monkey mask and holding a random football.

L wanted me to take a picture during bath time.

Saturday morning J, L and I ran out for a couple errands. I saw the most perfect giftcard ever at Starbucks! I'd love a few of these for Christmas!!

After Starbucks we went to Kid To Kid for Christmas pajamas. By December 1st their selection was pretty picked over but I managed to find the perfect American Girl holiday jammies for J and nightgowns for the little girls. I still need to find something for C. After Kid To Kid we went to Duck Donuts next door! I've been hearing about Duck Donuts since we moved here and pass it all the time when we're at Kid To Kid but we finally decided to stop in Saturday morning. These donuts are amazing!! Just a dollar something for any kind of donut topping you want and they add toppings as you order! The donuts are a little different.. yellow cake donuts.. but still delicious!

J ordered the chocolate drizzle with sprinkles, L wanted the "zebra" donut.. white with chocolate drizzle and I decided on the chocolate with peanuts and coconut... so yummy!

Other than being sick and running errands I've also been busy trying to sell as much as I can to help
fund Christmas and our upcoming trip to Texas! I love buying and selling (or curbside finds and selling ha!) so this is fun for me but also a lot of work! My entire front dining room is a disaster. :/ I've been thinking about starting an eBay shop but not sure right now. I'm so unorganized at the moment..

I'm still drinking Revital U coffee every morning. Honestly, the stuff is disgusting but I love the energy I get! I usually don't even need a second cup of coffee the entire day. I do go to Starbucks occasionally but generally I just drink the Retival U every morning and that's it for the day. I've heard of people losing 20 lbs with this stuff but I'm not so lucky. I think I've lost, maybe, 3 lbs. Ugh. This week I'm going to start working out every day and drinking lemon water. I think I'll continue Revital U for at least another month but I'm not that impressed and wonder if there's another "smart coffee" out there that would taste better and work even better..

Hope everyone's having a great Monday! I made a to do list this morning and want to stick to it! We'll see how that goes ha!

Morning with Indie

You can tell Indie Grace doesn't feel good here, poor baby. We had to skip MOPS last Thursday morning so we stayed home and had a lazy day. (We also ate half the donuts I was going to take to MOPs ha!)
Indie wanted to take a warm bath so I let her splash around and play while I got my camera out. I've had my big camera for years but it usually just sits in my camera bag in the back of the closet. I go through phases of taking it out for awhile and trying to learn more about it before I get frustrated and put it away again. But if you've read my blog for long you know I currently have a phone with a really lousy camera. I love to take pictures and take a lot but the lousy camera on my phone has left me frustrated and depressed ha! At this point my big camera is really my only option. I finally found the charger, charged it and decided to get the camera out on Thursday. Some how I managed to get in it on (what I think were) halfway decent settings and got a few cute photos of Indie. I have always wanted to really learn all about photography, get all the fancy add-on lenses and whatnot for my camera and make it a full time hobby. But life gets in the way and I'm super A.D.D. (for real, not just saying that) so it makes it hard for me to focus on one thing for long. I'm pretty much still at square one with the photography thing! Settings, lighting, speed... all that really confuses me and (as you can tell) I don't even know the proper lingo off the top of my head lol! I would really like to try to stick with it and make myself learn this time around. I know practice and consistency are key so I've been trying to take a lot of the pictures the last few days.

You can see Indie is puffy eyed and just not feeling good here but she had a lot of fun playing in the warm bath for awhile.

Side note: I'm just now seeing that her earring was out Thursday morning. Somehow I didn't realize she was missing an earring until late Saturday afternoon. The piercing is all closed up now which means another trip to get it re-pierced. I'm dreading it but she seemed pretty matter-of-fact when I told her she needs to have it done.

Her hair is amazing right after a bath! I use different things on her hair. This time I just sprayed homemade, leave-in conditioner in her hair and gently brushed it out. I need to get a better photo because this one doesn't do it justice.

I asked her how old she is so she held up three fingers on each hand ha! So cute!

I'm so glad I got this shot. I had just told her that her sisters were on their way to see my mom.
Isn't that a look of surprised mixed with envy? (This was last week when J and the older girls
were in Texas for his grandmother's memorial.)

Definitely not as clear as I wanted, and a little too bright, but I love her smile and sparkly eyes in this one. She was eating a peanut butter and honey sandwich for lunch.

Right before nap time. She's definitely looking sleepy here.

These pics were taken almost a week ago and she is still sick. This is our one child, out of the four, that gets the brunt of everything. It's ridiculous. She's the only one who has had ear infections and needed tubes in her ears. She's the one who gets sick easier and stays sick longer (not to mention febrile seizures) and needs antibiotics to kick it. I've been giving her over the counter meds for days and realized it was time to see the doctor this morning. We just got back and have a prescription ready to pick up. So she should be on the mend soon! Poor baby!
