Catching Up

We've had so much going on lately and I've been feeling completely overwhelmed!

We've had a lot of not so fun stuff going on but a lot of fun stuff too!!

We went on our first family camping trip a few weekends ago!

The next weekend we went to a fall festival which is always fun!

And L got to ride a horse for the first time!!

Last weekend we went up to the mountains for a few hours on L's 4th birthday!!

I plan to post about all that next week!

She opened a few presents here at home before we headed up to the mountains.

We have a lot of fun stuff coming up too! Of course today is Halloween! With storms in the forecast for this evening it sounds like a lot of the community may postpone trick or treating until tomorrow though. We have friends coming over this evening and If it does storm we plan stay inside, eat candy, make a fun s'more dish, watch a Halloween movie and maybe play board games!! I can't wait to share the kids' costumes... especially J's! I'm making that one myself and can't wait to see the finished product!

We have L's birthday party coming up on Saturday! This is the first birthday party she will remember having so that's really exciting for her!!

And our first Disney trip is coming up in just over two weeks!! So exciting!!!

I'm going to try hard to get back on track with blogging next week! Lots to blog about!

L turns THREE!

The night before her birthday. Her last picture as a 2 year old... Aww....

She wanted a Minnie Mouse cake so I threw this together. We ended up having cake and

opening gifts around 10 o'clock at night ha! With Alex in school during the day and J

working late it was hard to find time for everyone to be together.

* * * * *

At three years old L is:

Outgrowing 3T, wearing mostly 4T and even some 5T.

Going into size 8 toddler shoes.

Talks like crazy and uses sentences. She still has her own little pronunciation

of most words and sometimes we're the only ones who can understand her.

And sometimes I need one of her siblings to translate because I have no idea. Ha!

She loves peanut butter & jelly sandwiches. LOVES sweets, candy

and chocolate milk. She will try almost all new foods!

She loves her baby dolls more than anything! She also loves puzzles,

Legos, Play-Doh, playing with and sorting small objects.

She loves to help out and has the sweetest, most caring

little personality.

She still isn't potty trained. I trained my older 3 the week they turned

three but I'm giving her a little more time. We've started working on

it and will get there soon enough. She did get her first pack of Minnie

Mouse undies which she carried around the entire day after we

bought them haha!

I'm not sure how much she weighs or how tall she is... I'll try to measure and

weigh her later today.

L loves playing with friends and going to childcare at church!

She loves being outdoors and generally loves swinging on park swings.

Daniel Tiger is still her all time favorite show.

Last Saturday we took her to Claire's to get her ears pierced! Honestly, I was expecting a

huge meltdown and wouldn't have been surprised if we left with no piercings but L

completely surprised me and did amazing! (Pretty sure her hair wasn't combed

in any of these photos.. oops.)

There were a couple times when I could tell she was about to get upset

but we kept talking to her and kept her calm. We had two associates pierce

both ears at the same time so that really helped. She screamed for a second

and that was it. And she got to pick out a little Beanie Boo afterwards.

The only pic I actually got of one of her piercings.

In typical L fashion she about gave me a heart attack when she pulled a shopping cart

over on top of her and fell flat on her back in the Dollar Tree a few days after her

birthday. Amazingly she was just fine! The clerk said she's also in nursing school or

something so she scooped her right up, checked her over, calmed her down,

let her ring up a few items to and gave her some icecream.

L was Minnie Mouse on Halloween! She sat in the stroller almost the

entire time we were trick or treating which was a huge change from

last year when she was running about and would hardly stay in her stroller.

I think she was just tired this year. Despite my attempts to monitor her

candy intake this year she had WAY too much (too much for her) candy on

Halloween and we're still dealing with the side effects of sugar overload.

Poor baby gets very agitated when she has too much sugar. Still trying to

figure out what an okay amount is for her. The other kids don't react to sugar

the way she does so this is new for us.

We're still dealing with sensory issues on a daily basis but she's doing great in occupational

therapy! Her new therapist thinks she'll be making great progress in no time!

I'd like to do a fun, 3 year photoshoot if I can ever find the charger

to my good camera! The camera on my new phone is terrible. This new phone

is kind of a cheap, temporary replacement for the phone that died until I can

upgrade to a decent phone in a few months. Meanwhile, I guess I'll

have to make do with a lot of grainy, poor quality cellphone pics. :/ I've been

looking for the charger for my good camera for weeks but haven't seen it since

we moved in early June...

Hope everyone is having a great weekend! I can't believe my youngest is already three!!

Alex turns 8!

Alex turned 8 yesterday!

The whole family spent the day together on Saturday. Alex wanted chicken wings for lunch so our first stop was Wing Stop!

So yummy!

After lunch we headed over to the mall. Alex got some Legos from the Lego store then they kids
all wanted to ride these animals.

They had so much fun!

We visited Game Stop, Build-A-Bear, Starbucks and a few other places before heading over to
Bass Pro Shop. We planned to spend more time at Bass Pro but just went in for a few minutes.
The kids enjoyed watching the fish in the aquarium.

J and Alex went out again Saturday evening so Alex could buy a few more things with his birthday money and pick out a game he's been wanting.

Sunday we went to church and then to J's company picnic at a park where we had the most amazing bar-b-que and macaroni and cheese from Smoke Pit.

I had to take one last pic of Alex as a seven year old before he went to bed Sunday night. (He's hardly put that game down since he got it ha!)

Alex wanted Starbucks yesterday morning for his birthday! J took him for a morning bun and decaf frappucino. Starbucks is a regular (bad habit) for me but a rare and special treat for the kids!

I think he's chewing here ha!

Since J works late evenings we had a little party for Alex yesterday morning as soon as they got
back from Starbucks.

The girls and I had brownies, icecream and a few little gifts for him to open.

Mar was so excited to use her own money and buy this candy for him. It was so sweet! :)

We ended his birthday at the pool yesterday where the kids had a few water balloon and water gun fights with friends!

I think he had a pretty good birthday! :) It's hard to believe he's 8!

Birth Story

(Baby S's first pic!)

Our sweet baby girl arrived four weeks ago on Thursday afternoon, January 16th!

I didn't feel good the day before.... just more tired and achy than normal. Wednesday evening I started having contractions pretty consistently for about 2 hours. I was at the Dollar Tree with my mom and the kids when I started feeling contractions but we needed to go to Walmart. At Walmart I actually rode in one of those scooters for the first time ever! Ha! I felt so dumb but I didn't feel like walking either. Late Wednesday evening all the pains stopped and I was pretty annoyed. It was a full moon and I was really, really hoping I would go into labor.

Thursday morning I was still feeling fine. No contractions at all. I took the kids to school and went on to my 38 week appointment.

(Side Note: I was induced with my first 2 babies at 38 weeks with high blood pressure. Even though my blood pressure was great this whole pregnancy I joked for months that I hoped it would be up at my 38 week appointment so my doctor would go ahead and induce. My first 2 babies were 8lbs 5 oz and 7 lbs 14 oz at birth so I couldn't imagine going past 38 weeks with this one. I knew she would be a good size at 38 weeks.)

So, I went in to my 38 week appointment. I knew something was going on when the nurse checked my blood pressure three times. Sure enough, my blood pressure was up. I wasn't really surprised because I had been feeling a little off the past couple days. I have to say I was excited because I was more than ready to be done. With my history I was pretty sure high bp at 38 weeks meant induction right away. I got to an exam room and my blood pressure was still up. I was also 3 cm dilated and 80% effaced by then. The doctor and I went over my past pregnancies and inductions. The whole time I kept my fingers crossed that he would please induce me (I was thinking the next morning) because I did not want to go home and be on bed rest for a week .... which I figured would be my only other option. (I was on bed rest for 2 weeks before I had J and it nearly drove me crazy.) I asked the doctor if he'd induce the next morning and he was like "Actually, I'm thinking of today. Let me make a phone call." He left and came right back and told me to walk right over to the hospital and they'd induce right then! I was kind of shocked. That's not what I had expected at all. I was really hoping I could at least go home and pack my bags. But I walked across the parking lot to the hospital and checked myself in. It was a weird feeling to be so unprepared and walk in with just a coat and a purse. Ha! (Of course I texted and called my husband with updates several times. I think he was shocked that things were going the way I had joked.. bp up and being induced again at 38 weeks. I'm not sure he's convinced that I didn't make my blood pressure go up. Ha!)

I got to my room and changed into a gown. I was there by myself when they started Pitocin. I had my water broke right after. Thankfully hubby was able to get off work right away. He went home and packed my bags and came up to the hospital. He was there by the time I got my epidural around 4-5 cm. It took a while for the Pitocin to kick in but when things started moving they moved fast! I went from 7-10 in no time. They started Pitocin around 11 am and I started pushing right around 4 pm. Pushed for, maybe, 10 minutes and then she was here at 4:10!

I couldn't have asked for a better outcome! I know inductions and epidurals aren't for everyone but they're definitely for me. :) I love how quickly things move and how pain free it is. I've had all three babies the same way (induced and epidural) and three great birth experiences. :)

(7lbs.14oz. 19 inches)

(J loves her baby sister and is such a great help with her!)

(All ready to go home from the hospital.)

Five Years Old!

I can't believe this sweet girl is already five years old! It seems like we brought her home just yesterday. {She turned five last week, on the 23rd, so this post is a little late.}

The past five years have been a wonderful and amazing journey with our sweet J. She's grown into such a sweet, sensitive and helpful little girl. She's smart and funny and creative. She loves school, loves to learn, loves arts and crafts and playing outside. She loves all things girly girly too.. like bows, and jewelry, playing with make-up, nail polish, pretty clothes and shoes and pretty tutus.

Here are some of her favorite things at 5:

ANIMAL: BUNNY, ELEPHANTS, GIRAFFES, DOLPHINS

COLOR: PURPLE, PINK, GOLDEN

SWEET: CHOCOLATE

PLACE: MALL

RESTURANT: MACARONI GRILL

FAST FOOD: PANDA EXPRESS

FOOD: PIZZA AND SPAGHETTI

STORE: TARGET, BUY BUY BABY (ha! so cute that she likes Buy Buy Baby.. lord knows we go often enough. :)

OUTFIT: BUNNY SHIRT

MEMORY: PETTING THE DOLPHIN AND MEETING NEW BABY SISTER

BEST FRIEND: C (her cousin)

SCHOOL SUBJECT: SINGING ABC'S

FAVORITE SONG: TWINKLE TWINKLE LITTLE STAR

CARTOON: HANDY MANNY

MOVIE: FROZEN, DOLPHIN TALE, TANGLED

We celebrated pretty small this year and I'm still feeling pretty guilty about it since five is supposed to be a *big* birthday. We had a girls' day out to Dallas a few weeks ago. And then for her actual birthday we had gifts and cupcakes at home, just as a family, and we watched "Tangled" together. When she went to bed that night she announced it was her "best birthday ever!" As long as she had a great birthday I guess that's all that matters.. no matter how big or how small we celebrated. :)

Happy Birthday sweet J! We love you so much!

4 years old!!

Little Miss J turned 4 last week!

We gave her a little sewing machine on her birthday! She can't wait for her grandma to teach her to sew!

The night before her birthday we had a small party. These pics are out of order but they crack me up! J was SO shy and expressionless. My sister brought a friend with her that J doesn't know and J is super shy around strangers. These pics are so funny because she looks so sober.

This doll is actually a gift from our friend Becky.. bought before J was even born! I've been saving it for J until she was old enough to play with it. J is thrilled to have a doll who shares her name!

Last minute decision to make a "Hello Kitty" cake... not the best but at least J knew what it was supposed to be!

C helping bake the cake.
