Weekend Wrap-Up

Last week was busy!

The older kids were at Camp In The City every day from 9 to 4. Then the little girls had VBS from 6:30 to 8 every day except Friday. All the kids loved their camps and VBS! We went a little crazy going to so many Vacation Bible Schools this summer. It was fun but I'm glad it's over!

The little girls finished up with a program at VBS Thursday evening. Each class sang a song on stage. The girls were adorable, of course!! (Videos on Instagram). S was in the first grade class with one of her bestfriends. They were sooo cute to watch together!!

Wednesday morning we met some friends at a movie theater to watch Happy Feet! Several theaters around here offer free or $1 movies throughout the summer. The kids loved the movie!

I worked out four days in a row last week. The older kids and I took a long walk with our sweet puppy Wednesday evening.

Friday morning I went through Starbucks drive-thru after dropping off the older kids at camp. The little girls begged for a frappucino of their own so we compromised by asking the barista to give them sample sizes instead. They loved it!! Afterwards we had to make an unexpected stop at Walgreens. They walked in barefoot, in their jammies, drinking their mini frappucinos. I wish I had taken a pic.. they looked so cute!

Friday afternoon Camp In The City wrapped up with a little program. The college kids who came in to work as counselors had SO much energy... even after a week of camp they were jumping around and looking all energetic ha! I wish I had half their energy!

Friday evening we had another Sip N' Dip at the community pool! They served pizza for dinner. We got there a little late but in plenty of time to enjoy dinner and swim for a while then the older kids helped us fold up chairs and tables and clean up afterwards. I love how they pitch in and work hard at community events.. just wish I could get them to always work that hard at home too!

They actually DO pitch in pretty well at home.. when they want to. Saturday C helped me mow the lawn, weed the flower bed, trim trees and bushes and haul everything to the curb. S helped a lot too!! I sweated so much working outside yesterday I thought I was going to faint. I probably overdid it a bit but I'm really happy to have the lawn mowed, front flower bed weeded and most of the side flower bed weeded as well. I wish I had taken some before pics. We've lived here over a year now and I think this is the first time I've touched the flower bed. I've definitely got to do better! I actually love yard work but just never got around to dealing with this stuff until yesterday. I'm looking forward to planting a few more plants and some flowers. I want monkey grass or something low maintenance out by our mailbox too.

After a busy work day Saturday I just stayed home and relaxed all day yesterday. J took the kids to church and I stayed home, relaxed and puttered around. I ended up having cramps and feeling migrainey so it was nice to stay inside, watch Hulu and not have to sweat. We didn't have life group yesterday afternoon either so it was a nice, long lazy day.

Today the kids and I stayed home most of the day. This is the last week before school starts and we plan to enjoy sleeping in while we can! I accidently forgot all about the two older girls eye appointments this morning.. we all slept right through it ha!

The three older kids all got their teacher assignments today! They're so excited! And C found out he is on the same baseball team with one of his good friends from school so that was great news too!

Life Lately

Just a cute pic of the little girls twinning at church a few weeks ago! They both wanted to sit with us in service that Sunday. S does great but L was crazy ha! I think we'll wait a while before letting her sit in service with us again.

Bath time! They got the frogs and ducks (and matching loofahs) in the their Easter baskets! Great choice! They LOVE them!

We stopped by the police station a few weeks ago to turn in the kids applications for kids police camp. They have a nice memorial set up for the officer who passed away last month. The large blue piece is the hood of a race car.

After the police station we stopped by the post office to mail the orthopedic boots we found off eBay for L last fall. She was sad to see them go but there's no way they'll fit her this fall. We sent a little note to the girl with spina bifida who bought them. I hope she gets great use out of them! Such awesome shoes! They had some surface wear when we got them but held up great the few months that L wore them and still have lots of life left.

The year end badge ceremony for American Heritage Girl was earlier this month. J is excited to participate in AHG again this fall! And S will be joining her!

L went to her first ever VBS a couple weeks ago! The first hour or so was a little rough and she wanted me to stay with her but I eventually managed to sneak away and she was fine after that! She's going to her third VBS this week! She's practically a pro now! Yes, I signed them up for three different VBS's three weeks in a row ha! The big kids didn't want to go this week since they have kids police camp every morning this week but the little girls are so excited to go again! I ask them every day if they want to go and they always do. I think we'll skip next week since my MIL is coming out and it's the week of the 4th (I'm not sure there will be a VBS going on anyway) but I may try to sign them up for a couple more in July. No shame here. If they want to go I'm happy to take them! Both little girls are with me 24/7 during the school year so it's nice they can get out and do something fun (and free!) during the summer!

We went to a friend's birthday party last Saturday morning. The food tables looked so cute!

The "crab" sandwiches were amazing!

Pinata time!

Saturday afternoon J had several friends over for a "late over". We don't do sleepovers and most of our friends don't either. The girls came over to swim, have pizza, make icecream sundaes and watch a movie. They ended up starting "Anne With An E" on Netflix which they all seemed to enjoy! They also played fushball for awhile and painted their nails.

The kids passed out flyers on our street Sunday afternoon. Our community will be having a "Sip N Dip" at the pool this weekend. We're on the committee and like to help out with flyers, volunteering, closing the pool at night, etc whenever we can. I think it's great for the kids to be involved! The older kids passed out most of the flyers while I followed closely in the van but the little girl really wanted to pass out the last few right by our house. :)

I just caved and bought my first Erin Condren planner in years! I used to buy them every year then decided they were too expensive so the past few years I've found cheaper options but haven't liked any as much as EC. I love this summery print and can't wait to get it in the mail.. my current planner ends in June so hopefully I'll get this one by July 1.

I'm actually on another "diet" at the moment. I'm drinking lactose free Slim Fast and having a few small meals or snacks a day. I'm also trying harder to stay gluten free. I've known I have a gluten sensitivity for quite some time but lately I've been noticing how much it effects me. I get muscle and joint pain, migraines more often, nauseated, tired and more irritable. When I stay gluten free several days in a row it makes a HUGE difference! I lost weight on Slim Fast years ago (before I had kids) so figured I would try it again. I actually love the taste and it fills me up pretty well too. Next step is exercise (starting again is always the hardest part) and drinking more water each day!

My husband and I just celebrated our 11th anniversary! Hopefully we can get away for date night next week when my mother-in-law is in town.

Hope everyone is having a great week!

VBS and stuff

The kids are in VBS again this week. Indie is too little too attend but wanted her pic made next to this guy too!

They've been serving dinner every night to kids and parents! The first night we had tacos and last night we had chicken nuggets and fries!

Mar and Alex are in the same class this time. They were decorating tote bags when I picked them up Monday night. And last night they decorated t-shirts. Alex also won at jostling Monday night.. he was all excited about that!

Indie and Sol after we picked up Sol Monday night. Indie's been making the funniest faces lately.

Today we went to Barnes & Noble for a while. Here's Indie being silly again while looking at a My Little Pony book.

I happened to see this guide to Disney World at the bookstore. I'm thinking it will be a great book to have as we plan our big trip next year!

The girls just looking cute after we got back home this afternoon!

Hope everyone is having a great Wednesday!

Friday Favorites

I'm linking up to Friday Favorites today!

First off, I adore the font on the Friday Favorites graphic! Anyone know which font that is?

I'm re-reading another book from my own collection right now by one of my all time favorite authors. Mary Higgins Clark is a favorite and I love to re read her books from time to time. After a year or two I honestly forget who did what in most of her books and definitely forget most of the details so they're fun to read again!

The guys spent a few days in Texas, visiting friends and family, this week! This was Bleu's first time to fly! They had a great time and a well deserved break from all of us girls ha!

The girls and I had a lot of fun here at home! After we dropped the boys off we went to Build A Bear to use the vouchers we got on pay-your-age day.

Mar and Sol went to VBS several days this week. On Wednesday they wanted to wear their overalls. I found Sol's Gap overalls at Goodwill last weekend! I love my Goodwill finds! Mar's overalls are from Wal-Mart.

It was nice just having Indie with me for 3 hours a day, several days this week. It's amazing how relaxing it can be with a two-year-old when she's the only one around. I was really proud of her Sunday evening. She sat in the bottom of this shopping cart (something she's never done before) without hesitation! Good milestone for a 2 yr old who freaks out all the time over new or different things! Then she ran down an empty church pew a few times while we waited to pick up the big girls from VBS. Another good milestone as she tends to be afraid of heights/ledges and feels like she's about to fall pretty often. I was also pleased to see her running in a straight line since she tends to be off balance and clumsy pretty often due to hip dysplasia and sensory issues. She was really pleased with herself!

All three girls wanted to sleep in my bed while the guys were out of town. I woke up during the night one night and found them like this (notice Indie's foot on Sol's chest!) and had to get a pic!

We went to a friend's birthday party Wednesday afternoon. Indie loved the little chalkboard/magnet board. I think something like this will be a great birthday gift for her in October!

I've gotten in the habit of driving around the neighborhood on trash day looking for treasures. (#noshame) This crib spring was one of my best finds yet! I've been wanting one to hang up for a while. This one looks perfectly new (maybe too new!) but I can rough it up a bit to give it a shabby look. I'm tickled pink with it and just trying to decide where to hang it now. Of course Pinterest has the cutest ideas!

Indie asked me to get her snow boots down the other day then insisted on wearing them to drop the big girls off at VBS and run errands. I asked her if she was 'sure she wanted to wear them because they're a little ridiculous in July'. She replied: "They not rick-less! I wuv dem!" Haha!

She was excited to get her own water from Starbucks while running errands! I think it was too cold for her but she seemed really pleased to have her own cup from Starbucks. :)

This was just part of our fun, busy week!! The guys had a great trip and got home last night! We're glad to have them home! J is home today and running errands with all 4 kids at the moment. Meanwhile I need to tackle my mile long to do list including cleaning, organizing (I still have tons of organizing to do from our move in June) and I need to finish painting the patio table I got for free. I'll post about that project soon!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!
