being a successful & kind blogger

It is so discouraging, to me, to see "successful" bloggers out there who have such a, seemingly, snobby attitude towards those of us with very basic questions. This has happened to me several times on blog "support" groups. Support? Ha! More like a clique-y, support-the-other-cool bloggers group. Now, maybe I'm reading things the wrong way but, honestly, I don't think I am. To those "big, successful" bloggers out there. Who do you think is reading your blog? Following your blog? Yeah, the majority of your readers and followers are little old nobodies like myself. Where do you think you started out? Yeah, pretty low, didn't you? If you cannot take the time to be kind to little newbies, well, I just don't think you're all that and I don't give a flip what your "alexa" rating is or how much your blogging rakes in. By being kind I mean: When saying you're there to help and support you actually help and support by answering everyone's questions rather than dozens of you ignoring every question I have. Ugh. You can tell I'm a little annoyed.

I would love to form a support group of knowledgeable and kind bloggers who realize that everyone of us started out in the very same place. Nothing annoys me more than "successful" people (bloggers or otherwise) looking down on those of us who are right where Ms. Successful was 2-3 years ago. Gets on my last nerve.

All that to say, if any reader of mine would like to guest post on things that up and coming bloggers would find useful and be willing to answer all questions, I would love to have you guest post here! There is SO much I don't know and would love to learn but don't even know where or who to ask and still don't know where to get the info I need. I'm sure there are tons of bloggers out there in the same boat.

Things I would like to talk about and learn about include:

The importance of having your blog, Facebook, Instagram, etc names be the same.

What is the deal with alexa? (See, I am clueless!)

The simplest and easiest way to start making money with your blog.

And so much more!!

Please if any of you would be willing to guest post on these things please let me know. :)

  1. When I started blogging I reached out to 6 "big" bloggers... only 1 answered my email and offered advice. She is still a very good friend today. Now, I try to give advice whenever I can. I would love to guest post on one of the topics above. You can contact me via email and let me know what would work best if you would like: staci@7onashoestring.com

I don't believe in the "blogger eat blogger" world. :)

    1. Staci that is such a great idea. I have tried to contact "big" bloggers through their blogs but got nowhere...fast. But maybe emailing a couple would help. Thanks for that tip!

    2. I can not agree more with this post. Blogging can already be intimidating enough when starting out and when I reached out for 'support' I got no response. These were blogs that I commented on a few times a week, read every new post, and enjoyed. Once I experienced the 'snobiness' from them I was completely over their blog, it ruined it for me. I have questions as well and it would so nice to get answers and a little support. I am so interested in finding out how to make money as well and why exactly bloglovin is necessary. Great post!!

  2. That's a great idea, and I'd love to be involved if you're looking for volunteers. I'm hardly a big blogger, but I am opinionated and bossy, which I think more than makes up for it :D

  4. I couldn't agree more. Blogging, to my surprise, is very cliquey. I find the mommy bloggers to be much more open and friendly. There is a site recently started called b.you blog. They give a lot of great advice.its made up of other big bloggers. I've emailed and they've answered questions about my blog, given critiques, and advice, they're great!

Is it bad that I'm interested to know who you're talking about?

  5. same here. i have been blogging for almost 2 years now, and when I first started out I had no idea what I was doing so I emailed a few bigger blogs to ask for some advice, not one answered me back, I emailed some smaller blogs that had been going for over a year and guess what? they all answered back!! I have a 200 club, which is for blogs with less than 200 followers. I highlight some of their posts every month and have their buttons on my side bar. I think i's important to support other bloggers big or small

  6. Ahhhh, so true! I'll look forward to reading some guest posts on your blog that will help us newbies!! It's not easy at all, and like you said, we have all started in the same place. Bloggers should be kind to each other! :)

  7. Hi Karen,
I'm so sorry that you have encountered some bad experiences. Here is a link about the Alexa rating. It actual helped me out:

I put a link to it on my blog in a post. I don't have a big or fancy blog, but if you have any questions, please email me. If I have an answer, I will try to help. I'm still learning stuff too, but we can all help each other.
